Catalina Island

..the island of romance awesome people.
I could have run away to this place forever. This quaint, balmy island completely stole a piece of my heart. The second we arrived to port, I was immediately taken back to another island that I hold near and dear. Catalina reminded me of a west coast version of Mackinac Island.

On the trip over we met a couple and had an immediate connection with them - due to the fact they are too a military couple. Seeing them in passing throughout the day on the island (along with a lot of other people we had met, it's a REALLY small island), we met up with them for drinks in the evening.
It was such a blast to have met this couple. I truly believe they came into our lives for a reason, but that is another story for another day as to why.

Our gorgeous room!
The locals took a liking to us, or thought we were bat-shit crazy. Next to having 48 hours of uninterrupted time with my husband, meeting the locals on the island had to have been the best part of our vacation!
(Erin we love you!) Oh and if you are in the area, make sure you visit Casino Dock Cafe and Ristorante Villa Protofino. Erin's family owns both restaurants, so we may be biased, but both have a fantastic (and completely different) atmosphere.
Until next time sweet Avalon...

  1. I love that place too!! I found life for the locals interesting too. They even leave and go play football games on the mainland. You get a golf cart instead of a car when you turn driving age, the whole place is cooler than anything.
Did ya'll paddleboard or ride bikes?
