We're Married!

B and I tied the knot on this day last week!
Nothing has ever felt more right and my heart has never felt so full of happiness.
For many logical reasons within the military, we made the decision a few months back to have a civil ceremony before our big celebration. With the loving support from both of our friends and families, we put together a small ceremony. It was something I'd never considered doing, wouldn't have done if I hadn't married someone in the military, but now so grateful to have shared this special moment with B.
The ceremony took place in Old Town Alexandria at the Carlyle House on the most beautiful, spring day. The Carlyle's were one of the first founders and landowners in Alexandria, purchasing two of the most expensive plots at the time to built their life on. B picked out this beautiful location entirely on his own and I couldn't have imagined a more lovely setting for this intimate affair.
I absolutely adored my bouquet! The arrangement contained all of my favorite flowers; peonies, gerber daises, hydrangeas, and my "something blue". It was soft and feminine and more than I could have ever dreamed up. When I ordered them, I gave them the general color palate and told them to run with it, because after all, they are the professionals. My flowers also came from the same place my aunt and mom got their flowers for their weddings. [Flowers from the Flower Gallery of Mananas]
B and I met at the house with a small group for our noon ceremony.
I now pronounce you husband and wife...
...you may kiss your bride.
Our guests!
After the ceremony, we walked down the street to The Warehouse Bar and Grill for a celebratory toddy and toasts before heading back to the courthouse to pick up our marriage certificate.
That evening we had a small celebration with Georgetown Cupcakes...of course!
As my dad stated that morning, "Jordan, only YOU would have an entire wedding year!" And boy, is he right. Our larger celebration will (hopefully) be held around Christmas time [more on that later] with an entirely different theme, so this was the perfect avenue for satisfying my girly, frilly side.

I am looking so forward to sharing in life's triumphs and challenges with this man and focusing our marriage, first and foremost, on Christ and his purpose for us as individuals and as a couple.

  7. Ah! I squealed out loud when I saw your post title! Congratulations!!!!

Of course, I'm a little biased because we also had a small, intimate ceremony, but I am so proud of you for doing something sweet and intimate. You will truly cherish that forever. And you can still have the big party later on!

    Once again, congrats!!!!

  8. Oh my goodness! Congratulations!!! You were so so beautiful. {I feel a little silly for not figuring it out already...seeing your bouquet and wedding rings on instagram just wasn't enough for my silly brain to figure it out...lol} But I am so so happy for you two...a beautiful ceremony, and a fun big party for later...that is definitely the way to go! Congrats again!

  9. Oh Jordan ... only YOU could pull off a spur of the moment deal and make it look spectacular. Next time you're in Alexandria; give me a shout! I'd love to meet up with you sometime. Alexandria is one of my all-time favorite cities. I'm working on convincing my husband about giving up the idea of a big fancy house ... and paying top dollar for something a little smaller in Old Town. (I'm also hoping to convince him of the Rosslyn section of Arlington. I've fallen head over feels in love with the metro area!)

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  28. Welcome to the club! So glad y'all are so happy! But I've always been curious and have neer asked someone (which surprises me, actually)....which anniversary will you celebrate? I was so lucky that Hubs and I were able to plan the wedding of my dreams in my home church in between deployments and PCSs (for both of us....stressful is an understatement!). But being Catholic, I knew I wouldn't be happy or feel right if I wasn't married in the church....and being from old fashioned Southern (and Catholic) families, our parents would not have been supportive of "wedding now, party later".... In the end, it was perfect...and from the looks of it, your day was too! Congratulations again and best wishes for MANY wonderful years of love.....you make sure to tell Ben he got the better end of this deal! haha!

  29. Congratulations! We actually chose to do exactly the same thing. In a weird coincidence, today is the 1-year anniversary of our courthouse wedding. It was absolutely the right decision for us, and I don't feel like it detracted at all from our big family wedding. With the military it makes life so much easier to be married when you start the PCS process. I am really happy for y'all. )
