the day off

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:13
Before I left work on Friday, I gave a friend of mine a great big hug, thanked her for her families service and watched her hit the road for Arlington,Virginia. Last year, her grandson, a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps was KIA. It's been a tough year for the family to say the least.

While this is an extra day off for most, filled with cookouts and sunbathing on the lake, for others this day is sad and painful. So while you are enjoying time with loved ones, please remember we wouldn't have any of this without the selfless people who put their lives on the line to give us a better life and a safe home.

Happy Memorial Day!

  1. Happy Memorial Day! Such a sweet post today, a great way to remind us to not just celebrate, but remember. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  2. Well said! I am thankful each and every day for those who laid down their lives to protect mine.

  3. Well put! Have a safe Memorial Day!

  4. Thank you for the gentle reminder. Yesterday was a difficult day for my brother, former Marine. It's his first not with the Corp and he had to work. We talked and I prayed with him. I can't imagine what he was going through. It is so important to remember the day isn't about a day off, it's a day to remember and honor.
