We're Engaged!

On our 6 month "dating anniversary" B and stumbled across a local (at the time) cupcake sensation in Georgetown, DC. Last Saturday, he asked me to marry him, on that same corner we stood a couple of years back.
Lovey and I drove into Georgetown Saturday morning and started the day with a cup of coffee/tea and a walk along the water.
Afterwards, he took me on a little shopping trip where I picked up a few colorful pieces for spring.
My sweet boyfriend [at the time] needed to refuel, so we stopped for lunch at our favorite restaurant in Georgetown, Martin's Tavern.
After lunch we planned on meeting my aunts and cousins at Georgetown Cupcakes to celebrate Taylor's (the younger cousin in pictures) birthday.Once we arrived, we happened to see a couple of friends from college standing in the line. My aunt spotted us from the road and pulled up to ask B if he would park the car (thinking nothing of it because that's the gentleman he is). I suggest we go ahead and get in line, but my Aunt Kara wants to take pictures at the front of the shop.
A thousand pictures later and four ladies to keep me preoccupied, the moment arrives. In mid-conversation, I see B crossing the street in his Dress Blues, accompanied by three of his friends.
My favorite!
Me and my fiance!
I could not stop hugging him, looking at my hand, hugging someone else, looking at my hand, hugging him, looking at my hand...
We stopped into a local bar (one with a lot of American Pride) for a few celebratory drinks with everyone...of course I was on the phone most of the time.
I cannot even begin to describe how special it was to celebrate with my family. My cousins BOTH knew and didn't even slip up once! [Thanks Taylor for suggesting we paint our nails on Friday night!]
After a little celebration, we actually got in line to get our Georgetown Cupcakes.
The next morning we met up with our friends, Reina and Dave, for a celebratory brunch. [One of the perks to military life, having friends everywhere you go!]
Saturday, February 18th, 2012 was a day filled with a roller coaster of emotions, love, and celebration. We celebrated the birthday of my cousin, celebrated our engagement, and celebrated the life of a family friend who passed away earlier in the morning after a long battle. A friend, who undoubtedly left this world fulfilling God's purpose by impacting those around him through his kindness, love, and work ethic. It's a moment where life reveals how crazy, exciting, beautiful, and sad it can be, wrapped into one day.
What an adventure we have ahead!

[A common question: Didn't you see your cousin filming? No. Not at all! I thought she was watching a video on the Flip from her sister's soccer game earlier that morning.]
